Gahvar Van
Gahvar means deep, dense. Gahvar Van is the old forest that wraps around Barsana's hill, shaded and green, with a kund at its heart where Radha and Krishna played in the water. It is the quietest place in Barsana and, in the mornings, the most sung in.
The kund in the middle
Also called Radha Sarovar. Braj tells of Radha and Krishna's water play here, and the Gaudiya tradition of Madhumangala's laddus. The temple beside it is Gahvar Van Bihari's.
Where Krishna danced
On your right as you enter. Krishna danced here as a peacock to end Radha's maan, with Maan Garh looking on.
The ashram in the forest
Maan Mandir Seva Sansthan has its office in Gahvar Van and has planted and protected the forest for decades. Its 84 kos Braj yatra ends here every Kartik.
