Prem Sarovar · प्रेम सरोवर

Prem Sarovar

Between Radha's home and Krishna's, near Gajipur village on the Nandgaon road, is a lake that Braj says was filled by the two of them weeping. Prem Sarovar means the lake of love, and it is one of the few places in Barsana where people simply sit.

The story

Radha and Krishna sat together here. A bee came buzzing, and Krishna's friend Madhumangala chased it off, calling out that Madhu had gone. Radha heard Madhu as Madhusudan, Krishna's own name, and in Krishna's lap she wept that he had left her. Seeing her weep, Krishna wept too. Their tears, Braj says, are this lake.
